Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory condition of the intestines which is said to be caused mainly due to a family history of the disease or a severely immunocompromised status.  Ulcerative colitis is more common in the tropical and sub tropical areas, while Crohn's disease is seen more in Europe and United States.  In ulcerative colitis, ulceration in the intestine is seen most in the mucosa of the large intestine and rectum.  This condition presents with symptoms like chronic diarrhoea, pain in the abdomen, blood in the stool, ulceration in the intestines, reduced appetite and weight loss.

The Ayurvedic treatment of ulcerative colitis consists of giving symptomatic treatment as well as treating the root cause of the disease.  Pain in abdomen, chronic diarrhoea, and blood in the stool is treated with Ayurvedic herbal medicines which help in digestion of food, and regulate the forward movement of the intestines. Ayurvedic herbal medicines are used to treat the inflammation in the intestines, to heal the ulceration, and bring the intestinal mucosa back to normal.  Ayurvedic herbal medicines which strengthen the intestinal mucosa, and build up the normal cellular structure of the intestinal walls are used in the treatment of ulcerative colitis.  Regular treatment for about four to six months is usually sufficient to bring about a significant healing of the inflammation and ulceration in the intestines, which is usually seen in ulcerative colitis.

In addition, Ayurvedic herbal medicines are also given to normalize and boost the immune status of the affected patients.  These treat the root cause of the disease and help in early resolution of the symptoms as well as bring about a complete reversal of the pathology of ulcerative colitis.  A complete course of symptomatic treatment as well as immunomodulation treatment helps in preventing further recurrences of this condition.  Overall, a patient with severe ulcerative colitis may require treatment from about eight to eighteen months, in order to be completely cured of this condition.

An order once placed, cannot be cancelled. For exceptional circumstances (e.g. sudden death of patient), we need to get our medicines returned in good and usable condition, after which a refund will be effected after deducting 30 % administrative expenses. Return will be at the cost of the client. Capsules and powders do not qualify for a refund. Local courier charges, international shipping costs incurred, and documentation and handling charges also will not be refunded.Even in case of exceptional circumstances, a refund will be considered only within 10 days from delivery of the medicines. The decision taken by staff of Mundewadi Ayurvedic Clinic in this respect will be final and binding on all clients.

The treatment package includes shipping costs for domestic clients who are ordering within India. Shipping charges are extra for international clients. In addition, international clients will have to select a minimum of 2 months' order since this will be the most cost effective and practical option.

With a full course of treatment, most patients with mild or moderate disease get complete relief  with just oral medicines ; patients with severe and advanced disease usually require several courses of Panchkarma treatment along with oral medicines for a complete remission. Since this disease has an auto-immune component, we also advise concurrent diet and lifestyle modifications.
